Akanksha Sood is a spirited filmmaker who started out as an intern in a small media organization 14 years ago. Over these years she moved on from a researcher to an assistant producer to now a producer and director with a proven record of building, organizing, creating and driving natural-history productions in India. She has strived to create opportunity to develop and hone her skills, often in extremely high-pressure/high-demand settings, which have ranged from the jungles to tent-pole feature films, from crafting scripts to negotiating complex acquisition/co-productions, and now to directing her own films. These include The Pad Piper for NHK and Tigress Blood for Discovery Channel (co-directed), which have both won the National Film Award from the President of India. Akanksha’s other notable credits include Indian Leopards: The Killing Fields, India’s Wandering Lions, Tiger Queen, Manas: Return of the Giants and Tiger Dynasty, which are all award-winning productions for international broadcast.
