Miguel Soffia is a documentary film director and producer based in Chile. He worked as an award-winning producer on Chilean television’s top investigative journalism show Informe Especial. There he developed TV documentaries and news reports on subjects ranging from plastic pollution in the Pacific Ocean to the aftermath of narco war in Colombia and violence in Ukraine. His photographs from the Syrian refugee camps in Turkey were widely showcased in Chile. He has worked on documentaries with the BBC and Discovery, and directed for Al Jazeera English, among other international broadcasters. He has collaborated with UNESCO as a blogger and journalist. His film Campamento Esperanza marked his debut as feature documentary director. In 2015 he established Suroeste Films, a production services and post company based in Chile and operating also in South American countries including Perú, Bolivia, Colombia and Argentina.
