Bringing Home the Bacon: How Planned Versioning and Lots of Persistence Will Get You Those Precious Commissions
4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Thursday, Dec. 3
session room: Savoy 3
Big projects require big budgets. In tight economic times planned reversioning of your next big idea can balance the budget and deliver a great product to many broadcasters. But there are traps for the unwary! Our panel will present three success stories: How Kevin Bacon Cured Cancer is an example of how persistence, creativity and a few WCSFP connections can turn a tough science idea into entertaining TV for multiple broadcasters. The Human Journey was an authored series with Alice Roberts but France 5 ran the series sans Roberts. When the Egyptians Sailed on the Red Sea was shot by a French producer, translated to English, and reversioned into Japanese. Crossing the cultural divide is one of the challenges in successful reversioning, and this session shows you how.
