John Godfrey, Commissioning Editor, Documentary, SBS (Australia)

John worked for 10 years in the UK series/exec producing a range of factual programming across a range of genres for Channel 4 and BBC2. His career in the UK included the groundbreaking Channel 4 series Eurotrash, plus Passengers and Fortean TV. He has been in Australia for nine years, and has produced everything from documentary, to popular culture series for broadcasters, such as SBS and Discovery. Most recently, he worked at Becker Entertainment (now Screenworld) as Head of Development and Executive Producer. He has been SBS Commissioning Editor of Documentaries since July 2008, and looks after specialist factual documentary series and single docs (in particular science, history and indigenous). These include Who Do You Think You Are?, mmigration Nation—The Secret History of Us, the Logie-winning Law And Disorder and the upcoming second series of Go Back To Where You Came From.
