Rising Stars Mentorship Program

Connecting scientists with people who can bring their discoveries to the world.

Keen to discover the next generation of star scientists and researchers, the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers offers a unique opportunity to bring your passion to a wider audience with the Rising Stars Mentorship Program. Selected participants will be sponsored by their university/research institution to participate in a full program at Congress '19 in Tokyo, Japan, including full accreditation, travel and accommodation support, professional development opportunities, and mentorship.

Program Description

Each recipient will receive:

  • Full registration to Congress '19 in Tokyo, Japan
  • Flight, accommodations & stipend for airport transfer and incidentals
  • Mentorship with a producer or broadcaster attending Congress '19
  • Additional one-on-one meetings with commissioning editors and industry leaders at Congress '19
  • Profile on Congress collateral, social media channels and at the opening session

Eligibility

Applicants must be:

  • An emerging scientist or researcher looking to enter the factual entertainment industry and bring their ideas to mass audiences
  • Available to attend Congress '19, in Tokyo from Sunday, December 1 to Friday, December 5

Nominations

Universities and research institutes may nominate a Rising Stars candidate by contacting Jenn Shah at [email protected] by Friday, September 6, 2019.

Nomination packages should include:

  • Name and contact details of the Rising Stars candidate
  • Brief statement (50-100 words) on their research focus
  • Brief statement (50-100 words) on their goals for the program
  • Links to media, videos, performances or other relevant materials
  • Commitment to underwrite the nominee's program costs ($6,000 USD) if the nomination is successful
