Editorial Committee Elections

Nominees for the 2018 Editorial Committee are drawn from members attending the 2017 Congress. Only members may forward a nomination. Any member may nominate himself or herself, or be nominated by another member.

Editorial Committee Vacancies for 2017

We thank outgoing representatives Mark Atkin, Jim Louderback, Tom McDonald, Patrick Hörl, Charlie Parsons, Josephine Wright and Don Wilcox for their tremendous contributions, and particularly our major partner representative Iain Dodgeon.

There are four vacancies for the 2018 term. These representatives will be elected for two-year terms, specifically:

  • One representative from North America
  • One representative from Asia
  • One representative from Europe
  • One representative from the UK

They will join existing Editorial Committee members Fabrice Esteve, Rosario López Foncea, Michael McMahon and Takeshi Shibasaki.

Appointments to the the Editorial Committee will include a representative from the 2018 host region.

Election Procedures


Advance online nominations for the Editorial Committee are open. Submit your nomination to [email protected].

On-site nominations can be handed in to the Registration and Information Desk beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. Nomination sheets will be handed out upon request. A box will be provided in which to place nominations. Nominations close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29. The election coordinator will inform nominated members and confirm that they agree to stand.

Candidates who wish to stand for election will be asked to provide a short statement of intent to be posted at the Registration and Information Desk. At this time, a list of candidates will be posted at the Registration and Information Desk and ballots will be distributed to any attending member who intends to vote.

To avoid any voting irregularities, each ballot will be numbered to correspond with the number on the voting member’s pass. Votes can only be cast in the sealed ballot box located at the Registration and Information Desk. Only members attending the conference are eligible to vote. Voting commences at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, and closes at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1. The ballots are then counted and an Editorial Committee representative verifies the result.

Election results are announced at the Members Plenary on Friday, December 1.
