Charlie Parsons

Introducing Your 2025 What’s the Buzz Host: Charlie Parsons

We’re thrilled to announce that Charlie Parsons, Senior Vice President of Global Development at National Geographic, will take the helm as host of the 2025 edition of What’s the Buzz, one of the Congress’s most anticipated sessions.

This year’s What’s the Buzz promises to be more than just a showcase of standout projects; it is a lively, insightful exploration of where factual storytelling is headed. Expect an energetic look at the formats rising to prominence, the shifts reshaping global development, and the creative opportunities sparked by today’s rapidly evolving media ecosystems. Audiences are invited not just to observe the trends but to actively engage with them.

What’s The Buzz has always been my favorite session at Congress,” said Charlie. “Where else can you get caught up on the most inspiring, creative, and gripping content from around the world in just 90-minutes? And for the world’s best factual creatives to meet in Rio this year is an extra special opportunity to learn from each other in such a vibrant, culturally rich, creative atmosphere.”

Charlie develops projects and talent for National Geographic, acting as the main contact to the global production community. He strategically engages with top unscripted creatives to commission premium specials, series, and franchises that drive a deeper connection to our world, elevate the brand, attract a global audience, and garner major awards consideration. He develops gripping content for Disney+, Hulu, and select YouTube projects. He leads a development team based in London, New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

What’s the Buzz is an essential stop for anyone eager to understand the forces moving the industry, the ideas capturing imaginations, and the innovations redefining how we tell stories across borders. This year’s session is produced by Tom Brisley (Arrow Media, UK) and Dan Salerno (Flamingo Bay Media, USA).

What’s the Buzz will take place at Congress ‘25 this December 8-11 in Rio de Janeiro. Registration is on sale now.
